Hello Everyone,
Every year, near the feasts of All Saint and All Souls, we try and do a pilgrimage bike ride around Lake Kamaniskeg in memory of students Paul and Janine and imploring our Our Lady of Victory (Lepanto) and the holy saints for protection on the waters this winter and the coming summer. We pray the rosary at various stops and cycle through whatever weather the Lord provides.
Meet at St. Hedwig's Cemetery at 12:00pm noon Sunday October 30th.
-- St. Hedwig's Cemetery
-- Hinterland Beach
-- Holy Canadian Martyrs Cemetery, beside Church in Combermere
-- HCM Cemetery II, Pine Cliff Road
-- St. Hedwigs Church
45kms total.
Here is the route on Google Map
If you can only go part way or half way -- join us anyway! We will be meeting with "van support team" at the half way mark -- at Hinterland Beach, 18.4 kms. There will be room for a couple bikes/people.
You can also just meet us at one of the stops to pray alongside us or cycle a couple kilometers in prayerful solidarity. Our time frame is a little loose as we will travel at a leisurely pace - approx. 12-15kms per hour. Total ride time around Kamaniskeg is thus about 3-4 hours with prayer stops. We reach Hinterland Beach within an hour typically from St. Hedwigs.

I would ask you to solicit "prayer partners" to pray alongside you as you cycle. These spiritual sponsors commit to praying the rosary between noon and 3pm.
Please ensure you, or your children, have a road worthy bike with working brakes (there is one big hill down to the "Iron Bridge" on Siberia Road), wool and layers, gloves, helmet/hat, and max inflated tires. You should also have a bottle of water. There is a spring along the way for refills. And, you should practice a bit beforehand to make it more enjoyable and avoid saddle-sores.
We travel as a group -- it is not a race. No one gets left behind!
Years ago I made a little music video in memory of our two students.

IMPORTANT:
If you feel you can only make it part way then Monique can pick you up either at one of the prayer stops -- Hinterland Beach, or Holy Canadian Martyrs Church cemetery (cemetery I next to the church or cemetery II next to the highway about 3kms further). BUT we need to know ahead of time.
See you all soon!
